How To Use Coupon Codes
Most retailers will use the following format for redeeming coupon codes (also called promotion codes, media codes, codes, . . .). Be sure to follow any additional directions that the retailer may provide for coupon code discounts.
- Make note of the coupon code (denoted in dark text). Click on the link that mentions the coupon code. The link may give you the discount or take you to a special promotion page that isn't accessible without the link.
- Shop the site and proceed to checkout.
- Review your order. Most retailers at this point will have a section (usually a text box) asking if you have a coupon code (code). If this doesn't work, double check that you entered it correctly . Once the discount you expected has been credited to your shopping cart, submit your order.
- Don't submit your order until the discount you are expecting has been subtracted from your order, unless you want to pay the regular price. Otherwise, you will not receive your discount and online merchants will not apply coupons to previously completed orders. If the discount does not show up, make sure the coupon or discount hasn't expired. Remember that retailers may be on different time zones!
- Read any restrictions and qualifications carefully, since some online coupon codes are only valid on particular items or certain departments. Also, coupon codes usually are not valid towards shipping and handling.
